She participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 and this year she is back to try for Eurovision again. It's the Irish singer Donna McCaul!

escXtra.com: Hello Donna! First of all, we want to thank you for taking the time to speak with us. And of course, congratulations with your participation in Eurosong 2012! Could you tell us something about who you are for our worldwide readers?
Donna McCaul: I am now a 27 year old woman from the heart of Ireland in a town called Athlone. I grew up loving music and always had a passion to sing from an early age. I believe in life if you really want something to never give up and always follow your dream because one day it will happen :)

X: Could you tell us about your career so far?
D: I started singing at the age of 6 in school plays and competitions.. When i was sixteen i won a competition called Teen Popstars and got to record my own album. I then went out on the road singing with a famous Irish group The Showband Stars and continued ever since. In 2005 my brother Joe and I won a competition on Tv called You're A Star and went on to represent Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev with the song called Love? I have been singing ever since and will always sing as it is my Dream.

X: Your mentor is Bill Hughes. How did you become his candidate for Eurosong 2012?
D: I received a phone call the day before Christmas Eve from my mentor Bill Hughes asking me would i be his singer for this years Eurosong on The Late Late show With a song called MERCY!! The minute i heard the song i called him straight back and it was a big YES YES YES i loved the song and that was how he became my mentor.

X: Your song is called Mercy.  What’s the story behind this song?
D: The song Mercy is an amazing song.. It is all about a girl being controlled by a guy and finally having the power to stand up as an independent woman and being freed from him just like alot of woman all over the world :) It was written by Martin Eriksson, Lina Eriksson, Peter Mansson and my mentor Bill Hughes.

X: Could you tell us a bit more about what we can expect from you at Eurosong 2012 (performance wise)?
D: What i want everyone to expect from me on the night of Eurosong  is a strong performance both vocally and entertaining that if it wins will stand as a strong Act and singer  for Ireland in this years Eurovision Song Contest.

X: You participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005. How do you look back on that adventure?
D: When i look back at 2005 i look at it as experience and a stepping stone which made me a stronger person, singer and performer and now i'm back on my own and ready to rock :)

X: What made you decide that 2012 was the year for you to try for Eurovision again?
D: I hadn't thought of going back this year until i received the call from Bill to listen to the song but as soon as i heard it i knew this has a very good chance as it is an amazing song and would do very well in The Eurovision if chosen on the 24th of Feb on The Late Late Show.

X: Do you watch the Eurovision Song Contest every year?
D: Yes of course i watch Eurovision every year i always make it a big party night :)

X: Do you have a favourite all-time Eurovision song?
D: My all time favourite Eurovision Song is Niamh Kavanagh - In Your Eyes. I adore this song.

X: If you don’t win the ticket to Baku, will you continue singing and/or do you have (other) plans for the next year(s)?
D: If i don't get to go to Baku i will of course continue singing.. I have been singing since the age of 6 and will never stop singing. As i said it is my life and passion and a true gift not to be wasted x

X: Finally, do you have a message for our readers?
